Lost Ark Team Update: Founder’s Packs & Server Status
During the Head Start period for Lost Ark, a massive number of heroes arrived in Arkesia. While we are thrilled to have so many players joining us, we also recognize that this has brought about large queues on our more popular servers, leading to a less than ideal experience for these players.
In an effort to improve the player experience for those who have faced queues, we will be taking several steps to put preventative measures in place ahead of our full launch tomorrow morning, in addition to addressing some of the outstanding issues surrounding Founder’s Pack claims.
Founder’s Pack Redemptions
Players have let us know one of the reasons they are reluctant to switch to lower population servers is because many of them have already redeemed their Founder’s Packs on another server. To help combat this and make exploring new servers a more reasonable choice, we will be granting ALL Founder’s Pack purchasers that redeem their pack by 12 PM PT (8 PM UTC) on Monday, February 14th with an extra set of the exclusive items from the Founder’s Pack they redeemed (e.g., the Founder’s Exclusive Pet and Founder’s Title from the Bronze pack; see full list below) as well as some additional Royal Crystals for Silver, Gold, and Platinum Pack purchasers. These items will not be tradeable, and will be delivered to a player’s Product Inventory so they can be claimed on a new server. Your original Founder’s Pack will not be affected by this, and will remain on the initial server where you redeemed it (or in your Product Inventory, if you have not yet redeemed it).
We are currently working to get these item grants ready to go, and will update players when they are ready to claim — these will be claimable on any new server you choose, so in the meantime we encourage you to find a perfect server to call home.

Please note that this is a one-time grant, and we do not have plans to continue to make additional grants of items available to players in the future. For example, there will be Starter Packs available for purchase at full launch tomorrow (more details to come), and we highly recommend only redeeming them once you settle into your permanent home server.
Character Creation Limits on Select Servers
Earlier today, we put a limit on the creation of characters by new players on servers that have reached large queue times. This will aid in preventing queues from increasing further as our player base continues to grow. If you already have a character on one of these servers, you will still be able create additional characters for your Roster.
This character creation limit will be an active process, and we may add or remove these restrictions based on current queue times and how many characters exist on a server. Please also note that you will need to reload the game in order for servers with freshly removed limits to show as available for character creation.

How to retrieve Founder’s Pack items in Lost Ark
Lost Ark is a free-to-play MMO that launches on Feb. 11. But those who purchased a Founder’s Pack get a head start and can play the game three days early, as well as claim some loot with their purchase.
Founder’s Packs were likely mostly bought for the three-day head start, allowing players to begin playing on Feb. 8 instead of waiting for the free-to-play date of Feb. 11. But there are some in-game perks to be had even for those who purchased the lowest tier of Founder’s Packs.
To retrieve your Founder’s Pack, look in the top-left corner of the game and search for an icon pictured in the red box below. Click on that and it should tell you that you have a Founder’s Pack to retrieve.

Once you get your pack, it should show up in your inventory. Click on the pack with the mouse button you chose to use for interactions and it will bring up a menu showing you what’s inside. Click open and the contents of the pack will now be in your inventory.
To activate an inventory item, click on each one. Each Founder’s Pack came with different items, so players may have a lot of items to look through depending on which pack they bought.

The cheapest pack contains a Founder’s Exclusive Pet, a 30-day Crystalline Aura, and a Founder’s Title, while the most expensive pack has a ton of items included in it, such as Royal Crystals, which can be spent in the store, and an exclusive Founder’s mount, among many other things.
Founder’s Packs can be bought on the Lost Ark website. And now that the game is out, the items within can be obtained immediately upon the player’s entrance into the game.
Founder’s Pack Nowhere To Be Seen After Redeeming Code.
Okay, so I have a possible explanation for why some people (myself included) may not be seeing their codes. This is a pain in the a*s to explain, so bear with me. I actually discovered that I did get my Founders code (though, as of yet, not the Black Dog pack).
I ordered the game on the MS Store on Windows. I have an account there, which we’ll call “account 1.”
I also have an xbox account, which we’ll call “account 2.” These two accounts are not the same, but they act like it. In other words, it’s entirely possible to play on your “account 2” while actually technically only having the licenses of “account 1” active.
If you have multiple MS accounts, make sure that the account that has your codes activated is the account you are signed on to on the MS store — if the account on your MS store and Xbox app aren’t the same, then you will not see your loot.
It’s stupid this even is the case, because as of right now I am signed into the MS store on an account that doesn’t even have the game, but on the Xbox App I can still launch the game because it is installed (and I do own it, of course).
So, people, be very careful when you are activating your codes to have the right account logged on in the MS store and on the Xbox App.
Lost Ark Providing Extra Founders Pack Items To Encourage Players To Swap to Quieter Servers
Lost Ark is offering players who paid to play the free-to-play MMO early additional items if they switch to quieter servers. The move comes as Lost Ark is struggling with long server queues during its early access period ahead of the official free-to-play release later today.
Some players are having “a less than ideal experience” said developer Smilegate in a blog post, and several measures to reduce queue times are being introduced.
Players who bought Founder’s Packs to gain early access to Lost Ark will be offered the same items again if they switch to quieter servers as Smilegate attempts to spread out the huge number of players already online. The offer comes due to the fact that existing characters cannot be transferred to new severs, and so players will need to start the game again from scratch with new characters. Starting again would mean leaving behind the premium items on the previous server, but Smilegate’s new promise means Founder’s Pack items will be available for players on any server they choose.

While that makes changing servers a little less painful, there is an additional incentive. Those who purchased the Silver, Gold, or Platinum packs will also be given extra Royal Crystals that can be spent on skins, mounts, stronghold decorations and more in the in-game shop. To qualify for the replicated items and Royal Crystals, you need to switch servers and redeem your items by 12pm PT on February 14.
More than a dozen additional servers will also be opened to coincide with Lost Ark’s free-to-play launch and the creation of additional characters will be limited “for the foreseeable future”.
It’s already one of Steam’s biggest-ever games, overtaking the likes of Apex Legends and Among Us in peak concurrent users, even before it is officially released later today.

More than 530,000 concurrent players logging on seemed to be causing some problems initially, with users reporting connectivity issues and increased queue times that prompted Smilegate to open another North American server shortly after early access began.
Lost Ark will launch as a fully free-to-play game on February 11 at 9am Pacific / 12pm Eastern / 5pm UK (that’s February 12 at 4am AEDT).
In our preview for the game, we said Lost Ark’s combat is “very, very good, combining the best elements of MMOs and ARPGs,” and there’s “a sense of wonder surrounding this game that has us greatly excited.”

Lost Ark’s long-awaited Western release has arrived. Though the game doesn’t actually go free-to-play until later today, those who spent some (or a lot of) money to get in early have helped it shoot up Steam’s most-played list.
As is often the case with popular MMOs, long server queues are already a problem. Depending on where you are in the world, and the server you chose to join, you may be waiting several hours just so you can play. Considering the traditional MMO structure of the game, most players join servers where their friends are, because that’s the only way to play with them (short of the group-finder activities which go cross-server).
Making matters worse, Lost Ark does not currently allow for any kind of server transfers. And, since everyone playing right now paid to get into this early access period, many of them don’t want to even consider starting a new character on a less-populated server as they don’t want to lose their founder’s pack items.
While Amazon Games has yet to make it possible for people to hop between servers, the company is at least offering one potential solution. In a post on the official forums, the developer announced that owners of any of the game’s founder’s packs will get an extra set of whatever exclusive items are included in their purchases.
These extra items will be added to every player’s product inventory, meaning they can be claimed on any new server. The original set of items will remain on the server where they were initially redeemed, too. To qualify for this, you’ll need to redeem your purchases by 12pm PT, 3pm ET, 8pm UK on Monday, February 14.
While you will be starting over with a new character on whatever new server you choose, at least you won’t have to lose the items you paid for.
Amazon is also working on easing up the long queues in two other major ways. First, new players will no longer be able to create characters on servers with massive existing queues. This doesn’t apply to players who are already on those servers, so they will continue to be able to create new characters. Amazon expects this limitation to be lifted eventually, but didn’t say when.
Finally, Lost Ark is receiving a number of new servers across all supported regions in an attempt to contain the coming rush of players, though it’s fairly safe to assume – given how popular the game has been so far – that you’ll probably be stuck in a queue for a bit.
